Answers In The Smoke
I ignite the incense stick.
The smoke spirals and twists.
Tickling my nose,
Clinging to my hair.
Exotic spices fill the air:
Patchouli, Sandalwood,
Neroli, or Nag Champa.
The red ember glows,
Like an eye
As I stare
At the smoky tendrils
I become mystified.
What will I see?
Quite incantation whispered,
Breath held; then released.
A moment of contemplation...
The smoke begins to shift.
Shapes transform before my eyes,
Now I can plainly see!
The answers to my questions,
Laid out in front of me.

Greetings Rainstorm, I hope this message finds you well and happy today... I liked your poem very much as Incense is one of my favorite things to smell and it's right up there with candles. There is nothing that gets me into the right mind set as incense burning.... you named all my favorite scents too!!! I love your background pic very much as spring is my all time favorite seasons, I feel so alive then, after being in darkness of winter in which doesn't do a good thing for my moods... I guess that is do to that I am a sun sign, and not to much sun in the winter months.... Well I thought that I'd stop in to say thank you for your post...
PathwalkerHave a great and safe weekend....
